Monkey see monkey do...

I am well into the study of 2 Kings and I’ve had to devise a system to help me keep up with the kings. From what I can gather (no study aids), the land of Israel is divided into two territories, each with their own king. In the Bible they are described as king of Israel and king of Judah. (for you scholars, if this isn’t correct, let me know and I’ll post the correction). As each new king is introduced I write their name In the margins of my Bible and place an “I” for Israel and a “J” for Judah. All of the Israel kings on the left margin, and all the Judah kings on the right margin. I also place a happy or sad face by their name. This determination is based on the description of “he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord” = :); “he did evil in the eyes of the Lord” = :(.
I did notice the kings whose fathers did evil, mostly passed this evil onto their sons and they onto their sons. Not that a man can’t break the pattern of how he was raised, because by choice and surrender he can. But, as a father you set a pattern of behavior and response. Mom’s do as well, but Kings was focused on the men.
Dad, if you want your child to live generously, joyfully, peacefully and peaceably then he/she needs to see that in you.
Tomorrow, I will focus on what I’ve learned of the importance of the word “however”.

My fav verse is Galatians 5:1 b/c when I asked Jesus to be my Lord, I was freed from the things that caused bondage in my life:fear...sin...unforgiving heart. I still struggle with thosethings but they do not have a chokehold on me, you know? He replaced those things with peace and the persuit of living and loving like Him.
